TGIF

I am so glad this week is over!!! I hope everybody enjoys their weekend......I plan on it!

My hubby has been on vacation since Tuesday and has done a great job on my list of things for him to do!! Poor guy, he has a full day tomorrow with painting and such. He's been a great sport as he knows we really need to get some of these chores finished. He works between 50-60 hours a week and is never home to do what I need. So, all is good here in Newark!

The family just got home from attending a Columbus Clippers game. My grandson, Benjamin went and loved it. It's so family friendly over there.......we'll have to go back soon!

Hey, I wanted to let you know about Trudy Hitchens. She fell and broke her arm, however she also had to have surgery done on it today. She was on Facebook tonight with an update and hopefully, is now on her way to recovery. Poor thing. It's so hard on our body to fall, believe me, I have had my share this past two winters. I always seem to injure my knees!!! Poor Martha Worthington, Sherri Ziler and Cindy Lafollett too. They all have had major falls this year as well.......not fun.

The class of 1975 is celebrating their reunion this weekend. Congrats to all!! Who knows, maybe you'll see someone that you haven't seen in a very long time!!

Remember, next Friday is George McElroy's party at the Red Carpet Healthcare Center starting at 5:30. He is getting so excited for this to happen....I hope all of us can help put a smile on his face. Hope to see you there!!!

Blessings, Shanda

Happy Hump Day to all of you!!!

I got a very nice email from Sharon and Bryan Walker concerning their son, Neil playing in the AllStar game last Friday evening here in Newark. She said he loved being involved and of course, enjoyed the win against Licking County!!! Congrats to all of the players on the team.....it was so hot that night!!!

I also wanted to mention Martha Worthington Kasper's son, Brian and his new bride, Karen celebrated last weekend with their family in Minnesota with a lovely wedding reception. Martha did alot of baking for it and from what I saw in the pictures.......the cakes were great!!! It sounds like a wonderful time was had by all!! Congrats to all of you.

If you took a vacation or just drove the road a few miles and have any neat pics from your travels, please share. I love to see new places and hear about how great everybodies trip were. Thanks. Shanda

TGIF!!!

I'm back!! This heat is really taking it out of me.
I still can't get a feel on how this is working out for everybody. Please, I need some feedback from all of you. Nobody has added anything new on the posts, so I really can't tell. I've had a few classmates report to me that they just cannnot get logged on to this site. I want everybody to be able to do this, if not, I'll go back to just emailing all of you.
I'm headed to Columbus tomorrow, my nephew, Patrick's graduation party. He graduated from Columbus State and we are so very proud of him. Congrats Patrick!!!
Well, gotta run for now......Benjamin just woke up!! Shanda

Sunday

Hello and welcome back!!! I took a few days off from writing.

Today, I heard from a gal who represents George at the nursing home. She helps him make decisions concerning his healthcare, etc... She is planning a party for George....to help him feel better. This has been a very hard thing for him to do (living at Red Carpet Healthcare). Being 51 and being ill is sad enough and then living among older residents and having your medical condition change is pretty frightening in itself too.

The party is going to be held on the lawn there under a tent.......food will be served, music, and Corn Hole games. I am looking at this as a Celebration of George's Life as well as helping to make him feel better. Please, I need a huge favor from all of you, especially our local classmates. Let's join George for his party on August 6th (Friday) at 5:30. Even if you just stop by to say hello, it would make a difference in his life. He just wants to feel "normal" for awhile....visiting with his buddies and old friends.

I plan on emailing everybody on their personal email accounts as well to get this message out. So, please, mark this date down on your calendar.....August 6th at 5:30....thank-you so much. Shanda

Friday

TGIF!!!! This has been a week!!!

Last night, I went to calling hours for Marcia's Mom. I was hoping to see some classmates from the class of 78. I just missed Trina Hayes King and Jeff Zuress. I did see Michele Palmer Thompson. Marcia and her hubby, Matt Oakley look amazing!!! I also got to visit with Marcia's two sisters, Chris and Karen. Chris was in band with me and graduated in 75 and Karen I have become friends with through Facebook.

It was a quick trip and I paid the price later with my leg and feet. Oh well, it was worth it. Driving home, I went through so many emotions. Today, I have recovered from the trip, but I'm still left with so many emotions and memories that it makes me alittle sad.

Take care and be kind to others......it does make you feel better as a person. Shanda

Wednesday

Hi. I'm sad today. Marcia Hayes Oakley's Mother passed away last night. I re-connected with Marcia on Facebook and have grown to really care about our friendship. She's a wonderful person and I feel so sorry for her right now.

Tomorrow, I plan on going to Byesville for the calling hours. I am hoping to run into several other classmates of 78. Facebook has been a good thing for all of us. Marcia will have not only the support of her family, but now of some old friends. Her calling hours are 5-8 tomorrow at Black-Epperson in Byesville. Thanks. Shanda

Tuesday!!!

Tuesday already!!! Tomorrow.....Hump Day!!!!

I had a very interesting morning today. First of all, I didn't hear the alarm clock for at least a half hour after I was suppose to. Then, Max the dog got out and ran away from me!! The visual on this isn't good.........me in my jammies and trying to run down a very fast two year old dog!! Yes, I woke up the neighbors and they all know that his name is MAX!!!! It took a very kind lady to stop her car (she had to or hit Max with it) and finally lured him into her arms! I was a basket case by this time.

This, in turn, made me late for my trip to Columbus for my appointment with my Vascular Surgeon to get my stitches removed. While traveling there, I had a meltdown and realized that my face was blood red and I could feel my heart still racing. I figured I would be admitted for uncontrolled high blood pressure..............DOGS!!!!

It took all day for me to recover from all of the excitment, but I did. I took the rest of the day off and ordered out dinner for the family. Max is in the "doghouse" and is very sorry for what he put me through.

Nothing else new for me to report for today. Watch out for that 90 degree weather again!!! Drink lots of water and stay inside if you can. Love to all, Shanda

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Happy Monday to you all!!! It's been a very long weekend for me and my family.........Graduation party for my oldest daughter. She received her Masters Degree in Business!!!! We are so proud!!

I got some wonderful news from Cheryl Johnson Smith late last night. She had another CT scan on her chest and pelvis and no new cancer has been detected. Also, the spot on her lung seems to be getting smaller. What a Blessing this news is to Cheryl and her family as well as her many friends. She has chemo to day and tomorrow.....3 weeks from now chemo again for two days and then two and a half weeks from then another CT scan. Keep those prayers coming......she deeply appreciates them. Also, she is a proud Grandmother of a 13 year old grandson!!! Raithen is officially a teenager......let the fun begin!!!! Happy Birthday Raithen!!!

I love getting emails like Cheryl's. She has gone through so much and I love chatting with her...she's a real inspiration to me. Thanks for being my friend.

Enjoy the rain today.......I don't have to water my flowers today!!! They're beautiful to look at, but it takes alot of hard work to maintain them, especially during that heat from last week.

No new news to report on George either. I have got to get down in the next week or so.....he's probably wondering where I am. I send him a card every week to help get him through the rough spots.

Gotta run for now...Shanda

TGIF!!!

TGIF!!!! Today, we finally got some much needed rain here in Newark, Ohio. I didn't have to water my flowers!!!

We are still having our garage sale at my friend's house and we're doing rather well with our sales. My grandson, Benjamin is earning a lot of extra cash by selling his old toys. He wants to purchase a KING KONG figure from E-Bay and it costs 59.99!!! This kid cracks me up at times.

I won't comment on the LeBron situation......it's been said many times today from Cav fans. I will just say that my family is in deep mourning and not very happy about the whole situation. Enough said on that!!!

I talked to Cindy Lafollett today and she wanted me to let all of you know that she called Julianne Seresun Balik last night. They laughed and cried together and Julianne is hanging in there even though she misses her Mommy terribly. Julianne was so touched by how many classmates she had heard from during this difficult time in her life.......that's what friends are for!!! Thanks to all of you.

Well, I have a house that needs cleaned for a graduation party that is being held here on Sunday. My little cleaning fairy hasn't arrived yet, so I better get busy!!! Love to all, Shanda

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

It's Thursday!!! My grandson, Benjamin and I tried to go to a few garage sales this morning......too hot for me!!! He got a King Kong movie and a Play Station 2 game, so he's pretty happy. We are going to go over to my in-laws later this afternoon to swim.

Yesterday, on Facebook, Cindy Lafollett posted a really nice post concerning us complaining about the heat. She reminded us of our men and women over in the Middle East who don't have the means of getting into an air conditioned home or place of employment. Not only do they have to wear their uniforms, they carry a backpack of equipment that weighs at least 40 lbs.

My son, Adam spent a year of his young life over in that hell .And, when he called us, the weather was always the first thing he would talk about. During the day, temps would soar to about 120 degrees and at night would drop to 50-60 degrees. So, I guess when we complain, we need to remember our soldiers and how they handle this on a daily basis.

Well, that's all I have to say for today......be safe and keep hydrated. Please, drop me a line or two to let me know that you made it to the site.

Enjoy, Shanda

Happy Hump Day!!!! I am so excited to have actually completed this blog site!! Thanks to Michele Palmer Thompson who directed me to this site. She has a fantastic blog site herself as well.

I wanted to mention something about Joe Oliver's daughter getting married. His daughter, Amanda was married December 6th, 2009 to Jason Jeffery. The happy couple make their home in Bolivar. Congrats to all of you. This just appeared in the Daily-Jeff a few weeks ago.......sorry it's taken so long to get this to you.

So, please, feel free and leave comments for our classmates to see and expecially news concerning your family. We welcome all news!! If I need to let you know something ASAP.....I'll personally email you with the info. Take care and stay inside in the AC if you can. Way too hot for me!! Love to all, Shanda
